Shenandoah Archeology

2025

Phase I

During my first half of my year at Shenandoah National Park, I oversaw the archeological program at the park, mostly working to do onsite advising for subsurface disturbance, though I had the wonderful opportunity to plan and perform a Phase I survey for the Dark Hollow Falls Trail that is scheduled to be rerouted.

Due to sensitive information, I can only reveal portions of the 31 page report. It included project background, landscape history, relevant archeological sites, photos, data recovery, data analysis, and further points for discussion.

Monitoring Projects

I performed monitoring for 4 other projects through the park. These were either unsurveyed land or close enough to existing archeological sites that monitoring had to proceed with an archeologist to minimize damage to cultural material.
