The main head of the mallet is made out of cherry, and the handle is a laminate of maple between mahogany.

The handle was originally smooth, however I opted to use a carving knife to create texture for aesthetics, better grip, and because the grain directions in the handle differed wildly, causing frequent chipping when using a spokeshave.
